Why would anybody want to have a career as a Butler/Footman or servant?

Why not??? It's very normal for people to have jobs as waiters or barmen, or working in a shop or other kind of customer service role, so why is it different? If I was going to serve drinks to someone I would much prefer to do it in a palace on a silver tray to people with immpecable manners than in a high street coffee shop with very rude members of the public. And the royals are very popular right now with Will and Kate, so everyone wants a piece of it.
